Coconino County and the City of Flagstaff will begin transferring animal shelter operations to High Country Humane on December 28th. The new shelter is located at the former Second Chance Center for Animals on Highway 89. The current shelter for the county and city is at the Coconino Humane Association at 3501 East Butler Avenue. Starting on the 28th, all stray animals picked up by the city or county animal control will be taken to the HCH facility. Anyone who has lost pets on the 28th or after will need to check with the new facility or call (928) 526-0742. The shelter will open on January 2nd. Coconino Humane Association will remain open after the transition.
