City Of Flagstaff Reaches Tentative Agreement With The Hopi Tribe Over Reclaimed Water
The City of Flagstaff has reached a tentative agreement with the Hopi Tribe over the use of reclaimed water at the Arizona Snowbowl for snowmaking. The city council will discuss the agreement in an executive session tomorrow night. Under the agreement, the city would be required to build a one-point-six million dollar filtration system to filter the reclaimed water before it gets to Snowbowl. The Hopi Tribe approved the settlement unanimously back on February 24th. The city council approved a reclaimed water agreement with the Snowbowl back in 2002 so the water can be used for snowmaking. The tribe sued the city in 2011 and the Snowbowl started making snow in 2012. The agreement would bring an end to a public nuisance claim by the tribe against the city.
