A Chino Valley man received nearly 20-thousand dollars back after he was a victim of fraud during an e-Bay transaction. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say a 58-year-old man contacted them recently about an incident where he paid the money to a person in Florida for two Volvo boat motors after extensive communication by phone, text and email. Once the payment was processed, the victim never received his motors and the seller’s phone had been disconnected. The victim wired the money to the seller to avoid paying Pay Pal fees, so the transaction was done outside of e-Bay’s payment options. After an extensive investigation, police in Florida were able to locate the seller, who agreed to return the money to the victim, which he has received. Officials say when conducting business on e-Bay, or other auction sites, read their security forms so you can protect yourself from fraud.
