Charges against the man who flew a drone over the Goodwin Fire, causing air attack to be suspended for about an hour, have been dropped. The Yavapai County Attorney’s office says charges of hampering firefighting efforts and recklessly endangering aircraft and other, among other charges, were dropped against 54-year-old Gene Carpenter because of newly discovered evidence. The motion to dismiss charges came before the case was moved to Yavapai County Superior Court. Charges against Carpenter can be refiled at a later time. Carpenter was already free on 25-thousand dollars bond.
