Two people were arrested after police find around five pounds of fentanyl pills and multiple weapons during a traffic stop Tuesday in Camp Verde. Officers were conducting highway interdiction operations on I-17. At around 12:56 p.m., officers pulled over a silver 2007 Honda Civic for expired registration. The male driver was taken into custody for failure to provide identification. A Colt 1911 pistol magazine was located in his front pants pocket and he told the officer there was a gun inside the vehicle. The female passenger was taken from the vehicle and checked for weapons. K9 “Kratos” was used to sniff the vehicle and alerted officers to narcotics. A search found around five pounds of fentanyl pills, a 45 calibur handgun, several magazines for the handgun and numerous 45 calibur and nine-milimeter bullets. The amount of pills is estimated to be between 15 and 20-thousand with a street value of $600-thousand dollars. Arrested were 21-year-old Carlos Julian Quintero Parra and 21-year-old Monica Ramirez, both from Phoenix. Both were booked into the Yavapai County Jail on a slew of drug and gun charges.
