Prescott Valley Police are getting the word out about a new scam hitting residents. Officials say a citizen recently alerted authorities to a scam that involves a suspect allegedly representing “Sprint,” who called the person and reported there had been a fraudulent order placed against the vicitm’s account. The suspect told the victim that someone tried to buy an iPhone on the account, which resulted in an 85-dollar charge and needed a credit card number or bank account number from the victim in order to refund the charge. Authorities remind residents that if you receive a call from a company you have not intentionally called, or who makes unverified claims about charges, do not send them money in any form. Take their name and contact information down and call police. The citizen who called Prescott Valley Police did the right thing and thought it through and didn’t send the scammer any money. If anyone receives, what they believe to be a scam call, contact police.
