Navajo Nation Is Continuing Its Shelter-In-Place Through Christmas

Navajo Lockdown

Read More News at >>

The Navajo Nation continues to step up precautions as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise on the reservation. A stay-at-home lockdown for the entire Navajo Nation has been extended through at least December 28th. Tribal officials say these measures are intended to further ensure an effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic by restricting movement of individuals on the Nation to limit contact to prevent the spread of the virus and to alleviate the strain on medical response capabilities. The stay-at-home order also includes the 57-hour weekend lockdowns from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Tribal health officials say individuals are required to stay home, stay on the Navajo Nation and refrain from off-reservation travel. Members are also advised not to gather with anyone outside their immediate household and to stay within local communities. Health officials reported Thursday there were 235 new cases of COVID-19 with five new deaths.
