Flagstaff City Council a proposed amendment to incorporate incentives for affordable housing, as well as related adjustments to parking requirements. The amendment would require that developers build affordable housing projects in which all units are affordable in compliance with the City’s requirements and is consistent with properties available at market prices. With a few exceptions possible, proposed developments would have to be within a quarter mile of transit stops and would not be eligible for modifications to standards such as building height. Parking standards would require at least one parking space per residential unit in multi-family developments unless council approves an exception. The commission voted to send the proposed amendment to Council for approval.
