The Flagstaff Blues and Brews Festival announced Monday they are partnering with the Flagstaff Unified School District Foundation to benefit school music programs. Jennifer Grogan with the festival says the blues aren’t in the mainstream as far as music goes but “by partnering with the foundation we are hoping to inspire kids to learn more about the blues and keep this traditional American-based music alive in the next generations.” In the past, the festival has donated over $65-thousand dollars to local music and arts education programs. The partnership ensures the funds will now be directly benefiting those music programs oftentimes forgotten in the budget process. The donations will help the foundation support students with increased access to musical instruments and instruction.
