The Coconino County Board of Supervisors made it official and named Steve Peru as the county’s new manager Tuesday. Peru is the former Coconino County Manager and Clerk of the Board as well as current Chief External Affairs Officer of the Coconino Community College and President of the Coconino Community College Foundation. Peru said in a statement, “Coconino County is home for my family and me. My career began in the County and I look forward to returning to work with the Board of Supervisors and the entire team at the County. Coconino County has been a leader throughout the pandemic, and in many other circumstances and events, for our communities.” Peru will begin service with the County on April 5th. Current County Manager James Jayne, who announced his retirement last December, will serve as a senior advisor to Peru to aid in the leadership transition.
