ADOT crews have begun work on a damaged portion of Highway 89 north of Flagstaff. The work is to repair the stretch of highway four miles north of Cameron. Officials say the work involves a mile and a half stretch that was hard hit by rain from Hurricane Rosa in 2018. The road got temporary repairs, which held up, but there’s enough money now to get the highway permanently fixed. Crews will install a new drainage system, remove an old abandoned bridge, as well as repave the stretch of highway. Traffic will continue in both directions throughout most of the project, but there may be times the highway will be restricted to one lane. The $1.7-million project is set to be completed this fall.
