The National Weather Service is predicting an above normal wildland fire season for Arizona starting in the Spring. Officials say we saw well below average precipitation in February, which has allowed severe to exceptional drought conditions to continue across Northern Arizona. Forecasters say the current outlook for the coming months indicates that odds are in favor of warmer and drier than average conditions. That means when we get into a traditional fire season, the chances of wildfires will be at a high level in Yavapai County in April and spreading to the north by June. Officials say now is the time to clear brush away from your home and clean up around it and remember, don’t burn brush during dry conditions.
