Last week Governor Doug Ducey announced a plan to give teacher’s a 20-percent raise by the year 2020. However, Arizona Educators United, the group behind the “Red for Ed” campaign says it’s not enough. They said last week the raise didn’t cover school personnel such as counselors, janitors and other school staff, and there was no mention on where the money was coming from. Yesterday, union officials announced they are taking a weeklong vote this week on whether or not to walk-out. The State Legislature is expected to vote on Ducey’s plan by the end of the week.
