The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will be conducting pile burns near Kachina Village Tuesday and Wednesday. The Mill Park Burn is a 510-acre debris pile burn aimed at reducing hazardous fuels from previous reduction projects to ensure the safety of the nearby communities. The burn will be roughly six miles from Kachina Village. The project is expected to begin Tuesday and will consist of burning three separate blocks over the course of two days. Smoke may affect the communities of Flagstaff and Mountainaire, however fire officials will closely monitor the amount of smoke coming from the burns.
