A Prescott man was shot after he tried to force his way into a house early Sunday morning. Prescott Police officers were called to a house in the 600 block of La Paloma Lane after a report of a home being burglarized, while the homeowner was home. When officers arrived the victim told them her husband, 27-year-old Ryan Welch, tried to force his way into the home. When Welch got inside, 32-year-old Kyle Fox from Prescott Valley, opened fire on him with a handgun. Fox said Welch fled from the scene after he was shot. Soon after, 911 received a call from nearby of a man knocking on a backdoor. After a brief search, Welch was found hiding in the yard. Welch was taken into custody and was flown to a Phoenix hospital for treatment of his wounds. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening. Once he is released from the hospital, he is expected to be booked on several felonies. The incident remains under investigation.
