A Prescott man has been arrested on charges related to an alleged abuse of a 15-month-old child. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 28-year-old Jeremiah King was watching the child, and a three-year-old, in a home on Julie Drive in Prescott back on April 30th. He was the only adult home between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. After returning the child, the baby’s mother and aunt noticed bruising on the child that was getting worse. The two took the child to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Doctors found unexplained bruising and trauma to the child’s face and genital area. Deputies went to King’s residence and asked him about the injuries and King claimed he didn’t know how the child was injured. Detectives interviewed King again last week, in which he denied knowing how the child was injured. He admitted seeing redness on the child’s cheeks after awaking from a nap in the afternoon of that day. He told detectives he would never hurt the child. King was arrested and booked on charges of intentionally causing injuries to a child and aggravated assault. He has since been released pending court proceedings.
